How We Work

A journey to
better hearing.

We believe great hearing care follows a clear, consistent process, one that keeps you informed, comfortable, and in control at every step. Here's exactly what to expect when you come to Prairie Hearing Centre.

Looking at hearing aids at Prairie Hearing Centre

01

Listen.

We start by listening to you.

Before any test begins, we take time to understand your world. Where do you struggle to hear? What conversations matter most to you? What does a good outcome look like in your life? Your answers shape everything that follows. This is not a formality, it's the foundation of your care.

A thorough case history includes your hearing history, noise exposure, medications, family background, and lifestyle. The more we know, the more accurate and meaningful your results will be.

02

Assess.

A complete clinical picture.

Comprehensive diagnostic testing in a calm, controlled environment. We use calibrated, clinical-grade equipment and a full battery of tests, not a quick screener, to build an accurate, nuanced picture of your hearing across all frequencies and listening conditions.

Testing typically includes pure-tone audiometry, speech recognition, tympanometry, and otoacoustic emissions where appropriate. Every test is explained as we go so you're never left wondering what's happening.

03

Recommend.

Honest guidance, no pressure.

Your hearing specialist walks you through every result in plain language, no jargon, no alarming numbers without context. We explain what your hearing profile means for your daily life, what options exist, and what we genuinely recommend for your situation.

If hearing aids are appropriate, we present choices that match your lifestyle and budget. If they're not the right fit yet, we tell you that too, along with a clear plan for what to monitor going forward.

04

Support.

We're with you long-term.

Fitting a hearing device is a beginning, not an end. Hearing health changes over time, and your care plan should evolve with it. We schedule follow-ups, fine-tune fittings, and check in annually, because we know you by name, not by file number.

Our ongoing support includes free adjustments within the first year, annual hearing reviews, and direct access to your audiologist when something changes. We're a phone call away.

Our Principles

The commitments that
never change.

No referral required

You can book directly with us. If your physician has referred you, great, we'll coordinate. But you should never need permission to look after your hearing.

Independent advice

We are not tied to any hearing aid manufacturer. Our recommendations are based on your needs, your budget, and your lifestyle, not on quotas or dealer agreements.

Unhurried appointments

We book longer appointments on purpose. A first assessment is 60–90 minutes because rushed care is poor care. You'll never feel like a number here.

Plain language, always

Audiology has a lot of jargon. We leave it at the door. Every result, every recommendation is explained in everyday language you can act on.
